5 Kitchen Remodeling Ideas That Require a Plumber

Does your current kitchen feel outdated enough to make you ready for a major renovation? If so, this is a job that you'll likely need a plumber for. Many nice kitchen upgrades are far beyond do-it-yourself projects. Here are 5 that require some modification to your existing plumbing and will likely require a plumber or help from kitchen remodeling services.

Relocate the Sink

If your kitchen sink is currently in an odd place, now is the time to relocate it. Many families like the sink to face the backyard so that a window can be placed above it that overlooks the space. Moving the sink will almost certainly require a major reconfiguration of your plumbing in order to make it work.

Add a Prep Sink

Another change you can make with your sinks is to add a prep sink. If you have an island, adding a small prep sink to the island can give you more options for how you prepare your meals. You can spread out more and do more with the countertop space on the island, using the prep sink to wash food and utensils as you go.

Add a Refrigerator Water Line

One nice upgrade you should make is to your refrigerator. If you have never had a refrigerator with a water dispenser or ice maker, now is the time to buy one. But using such a refrigerator requires running a water line to it.

Install a Garbage Disposal

Do not forget to install a garbage disposal underneath your sinks so that you no longer have to worry about clogged drains. Since you are renovating, you can properly install the garbage disposal by adding a switch to operate it at the counter level.

Add a Pot Filler

Do you find yourself often filling up large pots of water in the sink? This can be done more quickly by adding a water line for a pot-filling faucet above the stove. This allows you to leave the pot on the stove as you fill it up, so you won't have to clear out what is in the sink to fill up the pot.

Add an Instant Hot Water Line

Another neat feature you can add to your sink is a water line specifically for instant hot water. This uses a mini boiler installed underneath the sink and will give you incredibly hot water when you need it. This can be a great alternative to boiling water or heating it up in the microwave.
